The LIFE RESEAU Pilot, Part of the Comprehensive Sanitation Plan for Moaña

The Town Council of Moaña continues making progress in its obligations regarding wastewater treatment and the work to eliminate rainwater infiltration in the sewerage network, which causes blockages and flooding. In this regard, in collaboration with Augas de Galicia, it is advancing in its Comprehensive Sanitation Management Plan, a document similar to a General Urban Planning Plan. It includes the pilot project that the LIFE RESEAU consortium is implementing at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and the sewage network in the municipality of Moaña, in Pontevedra.

Comprehensive Sanitation Management Plan

The plan, a substantial document according to the Councillor Daniel Costas, will detail all the issues and propose solutions with deadlines. “The WWTP of Moaña is one of the few in the area that has obtained authorisation to discharge into the Vigo estuary,” he stated. The local government’s aim is to continue promoting the implementation, control, and expansion of the separate networks in the municipality.

In terms of the work already done, a report on the infiltration of clean water into the sewage network, funded by Augas de Galicia, stands out. This is complemented by the work carried out by LIFE RESEAU for the inventory and digitalisation of the network, monitoring, and the development of mathematical models that will contribute to better supervision, control, and maintenance of the Moaña sanitation system.
